Someone told me that their life would have been much different if they had just left it up to planning. It’s the things that they said yes to that made their life so interesting, colorful, exciting, and successful. Because they said yes they did things they never would’ve thought they could’ve done. What are you saying yes to? In psychology we teach saying no is good as far sending good boundaries. However sometimes you say no when you should say yes. Sometimes we say no out of fear. What if I fail? What if I can’t do it? What if I don’t have enough resources? The what if game can get you stuck make you depressed and make you anxious. Don’t play it! Are you being asked to do something where they resources will be provided to you? Are you being asked to do a job that is within your skill set? If it’s not in your skill set, would it be easy for you to acquire the skills needed. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scary but if your answer is yes to some of those questions, then you can handle it and the discomfort that comes with trying something new instead of setting limits where there are none.
